Mentoring

A mentor might be defined as an experienced and trusted adviser. The relationship between mentor and mentee is personal and confidential, quite different and distinct from the relationship between a manager and a subordinate. Confidentiality is vital, otherwise the relationship is likely to be superficial. Mentoring provides development opportunities for mentors as well as personal satisfaction. Done properly, it can enhance leadership skills and enable you to learn from alternative approaches and different ways of thinking. It can be challenging, but also inspiring and enlightening.
