Analytics-driven corporate MOOCs – performance indicators beyond completion rates

IndicatorsPost initial hype about massive numbers of participants signing-up to follow MOOCs, the ensuing discussion concerned equally massive drop-out rates. Researchers and practitioners now seem to agree that completion and drop-out rates are not THE crucial performance indicators of MOOCs and their learners. They argue that many learners do not even strive to complete the course because they are interested in only a part of the course or because they want to simply watch the course material. When computing drop-out rates only for those participants who have committed to completing the course, either by paying for certification or by indicating the objective of completion in the registration form, drop-out is no longer alarming and instead close to rates in offline learning settings. The group is indeed successfully conducting their digital transformation, although the actual implementation is not that easy. Products and services are complex and are directly affected by emerging technologies, which can be either opportunities or threats. In this rapidly changing context, Schneider Electric puts the digital at the heart of its strategy, especially with its start-ups acquisition and satellisation programs. The latest Silicon Valley Innovation Program, launched in 2016 May, enables to discover and develop start-ups at the crossroads of energy and IOT. Coorpacademy, founded by former Google execs, raises $11 million to expand its edtech platform

Paris-based Coorpacademy announced today it has raised a new round of $11 million in venture capital as it seeks to build out its online platform for corporate education.“The problem we had to attack is that corporate e-learning is boring,” said cofounder Jean-Marc Tassetto. “Our ambition is to bring back the pleasure of learning, and to encourage learners to develop their skills to their full potential.”
